Liron Gabay, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist LMFT #99154
Liron Gabay is a Licensed Marriage and Family therapist. She earned her Master of Arts degree in Marriage and Family Therapy at Phillips Graduate institute with an emphasis on the treatment of children, adolescents, families and couples. Liron received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology at the University of California, Los Angeles.
As an undergraduate student, Liron worked as a behavioral therapist with children and teens with autism and related disorders. She has also worked as a research assistant in memory and learning and developmental research labs. In 2012 she treated children 1-3 years as a child development specialist.
While in graduate school, Liron received training as a Marriage and Family Therapist Trainee at Philips Graduate Institute. With these experiences she has provided family and individual psychotherapy to children, teens and adults, child and adolescent groups, and crisis evaluation.
While co- facilitating various process groups in two senior living facilities, clients processed subjects such as grief, depression, current events, life transitions and memories. Moreover, Liron provided individual and group psychotherapy in an elementary school to children with a variety of presenting problems including, but not limited to, depression, anxiety, ADHD, lack of social skills, adjustment issues and trauma.
Finally, Liron conducted a professional project as a graduate student, which included an extensive research in her subject of interest: Most effective couples therapy when one partner suffers from PTSD. While working on this project, she discovered her ample interest in trauma and continues to exploit this knowledge in current therapy sessions.
At the age of 17, Liron emigrated from Israel to California with her parents. Her struggles as an immigrant and her fluency in both Hebrew and English give her a great advantage as a therapist.
Ms. Gabay utilizes many interventions in working with patients including Emotion-Focus Therapy, Gestalt, Family Systems and CBT approaches. She believes in direct, genuine, interactive and creative dynamic with patients throughout the treatment process. Exploring all interpersonal relationships, past and present, is very important.
The primary goal in therapy for Liron is to help patients create their desired reality! She is a big advocate for uncompromised honesty in therapy. Real and effective work can become challenging but nonetheless rewarding and with her natural supportive and enthusiastic fashion, she manages to build rapport easily with her clients and create a safe and comfortable environment for therapy.
In January of 2015, Liron Gabay became a Certified Anger Management Counselor through Anger Management Essentials.
