Raha Shahbazian
As an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (AMFT), Raha Shahbazian is dedicated to supporting individuals and couples as they navigate emotional challenges, relationship dynamics, and life transitions. She holds a Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology with an emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy from Pepperdine University and a Bachelor’s degree from the University of California, San Diego.
Raha joined the Avedian Counseling Center in early January of 2026 and is supervised by Chrys Gkotsi, LMFT. Raha’s clinical approach is primarily psychodynamic, focusing on how past experiences and relational patterns influence present-day thoughts, emotions, and relationships. She strives to create a safe, reflective, and collaborative therapeutic space where clients can gain insight, foster emotional growth, and develop more fulfilling connections with themselves and others.
A central passion of Raha’s work is her commitment to couples therapy. She is deeply invested in helping partners identify and work through conflict in their relationships. By focusing on communication, repair, and mutual understanding, she empowers couples to strengthen their bond and create more secure attachments.
Whether clients are feeling overwhelmed by a recent life transition, working through the impact of past trauma, or noticing changes in a child’s behavior, Raha provides support to those unsure of where to begin. She assists those facing cultural or generational challenges that make it difficult to feel understood, as well as partners struggling to communicate and reconnect. Whatever the story, she is there to help clients explore it with empathy, curiosity, and without judgment.
Having migrated to the United States herself, Raha brings cultural sensitivity and a personal understanding of the complexities related to identity, belonging, and adjustment. She is committed to providing compassionate, thoughtful, and culturally attuned care for individuals and couples from diverse backgrounds.
Raha provides multilingual individual and couples counseling in Farsi, offering therapy in Sherman Oaks and Woodland Hills.
