What is a Mindful Relationship?
Having a mindful partnership can be a challenge since ego gets in the way, however, it has several benefits. A mindful relationship involves paying attention and staying present without judgment. Listening to your partner, and speaking to them while aware of how your message may land. Can you picture being present with your partner?
What are the Benefits of Respectful Relationships?
There are several benefits to practicing mindfulness with your loved one.
First, partners feel emotionally loved since their feelings and situation are both considered. Second, intimacy fosters and the relationship feels emotionally safe when one knows their partner has their back. Finally, since mindful partners demonstrate thoughtfulness around their partner’s needs and adjust accordingly, consequently, partners feel loved and cared for and usually respond by being thoughtful in return.
The tone of the day is set beautifully!!
How Mindful are you in Your Relationship?
Review the following questions to self-assess whether you are thoughtful and mindful of your partner.
- When you go to the market, do you pick up certain foods your partner likes?
- When you’re scheduling outings with friends, do you consider what your partner may be doing?
- When the laundry is full, do you do the laundry yourself?
- When the trash is full, do you take the trash out, or hope that your partner does so?
Sure, we can always do more to help around the home or do our part more, but it’s easy to lose focus and get lost in our responsibilities. It takes mindfulness to take a moment and assess whether we can contribute.
